The Word is Out Across the Region

There are tasty treasures to be found at Fountain Acres Foods, everything from noodles to nuts, candies to cheeses and potted plants to outdoor play equipment. The store just south of Fountain City along U.S. 27 is something like a combination farmer’s market, furniture store and delicatessen.

It’s not just drawing folks from Wayne and adjoining counties. People in the know are arriving from cities big and small — Interstate 70 is about 6 miles away — to discover the store run by our Amish neighbors.

The sprawling site offers an unmatched variety of specialty food products and packaging options in the area. Many are old style.

You can find staples such as cheeses and teas in dozens and dozens of flavors.

You also can find deli meats, fresh breads and sandwiches. And seasoned mixes, flours, spices and baking and canning items. There are handmade tables and bent-twig rockers for sale, as well as fruits and vegetables. Kids of all ages can oogle the play equipment and sample dozens of candies.

You can find potted plants and wide variety of ground peanut butters — from almond to cappuccino to kicking-it-up hot. The store offers an extensive supply of natural, organic and gluten-free products. Plan to take a lot of time, sample products and ask a lot of questions because your buying decisions could be tough. Plan also to bring some cash or your checkbook: Fountain Acres Foods doesn’t accept debit or credit cards.
